COMFORT

After discovering Glaswegian brother and sister duo Comfort's 2019 debut album Not Passing we have been eagerly anticipating new music, this year they finally satiated us with news of their signing to Fatcat Records and their blistering EP All Fears, Fully Formed. The band continue to push their experimental, genre defying sound with warped electronics that twist and mutate over taught hip-hop drum beats as singer Natalie's impassioned vocals speak truth to power on gender, class and inequality with a distinctly radical and punk energy. For the single 'My Bias' Natalie explains the deeply personal and powerful meaning behind the track and how it relates to her identity, "As I have allowed myself to be who I am more, since coming out, I have had to contend with the ways in which I have been conditioned to hate certain aspects of myself, to downplay who I am and to feel as though I shouldn't exist. My Bias is a song which tackles how this lack of self-worth is formed." We implore you to listen to their music and if they are playing anywhere near you do not hesitate to catch them live, hands down one of the most exhilarating sets you will ever see; Sean's propulsive live drums underpin the glitching electronics and pulsating bass lines as Natalie commands an enraptured room with righteous anger and unbridled joy. -Toby Evans-Jesra
